Don W. Anderson, 86, of Mankato died Tuesday, April 27, at the Jewell County Hospital. He was born on Feb. 14, 1935, in Manhattan, Kan., to Lewis and Tracy (Johnson) Anderson.
He was a 1952 graduate of Cleburne High School, Cleburne, Kan. Don received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan.
Don met the love of his life, Gay M. Westbrook, while attending Bethany College. Don and Gay were united in marriage on Aug. 18, 1957. To this union, three children were born, K.B., Tracey and Tim. Gay preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2013.
Don taught business education for many years at USD 378 Mankato High School. Don also coached most all of the girls sports and golf until his retirement.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and most of all time with his grandchildren.
Don was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Superior Elks and Mankato Country Club.
He is survived by his three children, K.B. Anderson (Brenda Zimmer), Arkansas City, Kan .; Tracey Knack, Pleasant View, Tenn .; Tim Anderson, Winter Park, Colo .; brother, Jim Anderson (Rosemary), Kansas City, Mo., and their children, Marla and Jenny; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Lance, Ben, Anna, Kenzie; and two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Phoenix; also Amanda Anderson, Mankato.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.K. and El Delle.
Cremation has taken place and his funeral will be held at a later date and time in Mankato to be announced.
Inurement will take place in the Canton Township Cemetery, Canton, Kan.
