Last Monday the Jewell County Cinema, Inc. Board met via Zoom and in person. Those in attendance were Thadd Hinkle, Lisa Goodheart, Phyllis Christie, Janis McDill and Sarah Ortman. Trevor Elkins was a guest.
Janis McDill said they have credit from Warner Brothers for several movies.
Trevor Elkins said the projector system and the screen are covered on the City of Mankato’s insurance policy. He found a policy from Westbend that would cover $35,000 in personal property and liability of $500,000 for each occurrence, with a cap of 1 million per year. The cost would be $947 per year with a $500 deductible, or $893 per year with a $1,000 deductible. The City of Mankato would also be listed on the policy. The board members in attendance liked the $947 option.
Phyllis Christie stated the hydraulic system on the popcorn kettle has been replaced at the cost of $55.67.
COVID protocols were discussed. It was decided to leave up the sign suggesting masks be worn in the theater and also to keep the seats taped off. The theater will be open on Friday and Saturday nights only through May.
George Hennion from Bob’s of Mankato would like to host a “50’s night,” which includes showing a movie from that era.
Discussion was held on showing movies during the summer. A proposed schedule was shown to the members:June 11, 12, 13; June 25, 26, 27; July 30, 31, Aug 1; August 3, 4, 5. The schedule will be checked with the ballgame schedule for conflicts.
The public will be asked for movie suggestions on a Facebook post. Movies will be released in the summer will be considered.
