"Records are made to be broken!"
Correct ?
That old phrase is used often but often comes up at unexpected times. At least maybe to some sports reporters.
L-N Raider, Cole Troudt, has been having a good year for the Raider Track Team. He earned three gold medals so far this spring, most of his winning times were all around the 11 minute or 11 plus times.
So, this reporter isn't sure of his frame of mind, but the trip last week to the Superior Invitational Track Meet didn't seem to have any special significant meaning to this reporter.
And, you know what? Cole came in second at this meet . . .
But . . . a check with the record book confirmed that his time of 10:38.20 was actually a minute faster than his first gold medal of the season, but was also a new school record for Lawrence-Nelson.
The previous record holder of the 3200 Meter Run for L-N was Emet Fanning who set the record in 2013 with a time of 10:44.3.
Records are made to be broken.
There were seven teams at the Superior Invitational Meet and both the boys and the girls' teams had a little trouble earning first place medals against the larger teams, but both had good results. A lot of personal records were put up on individual events. The team results:

As a team, one gold medal and four silver medals came home with the Raiders, but individuals recorded personal best in eleven events. As a team they are beginning to record points in the dashes and the relay teams have been scoring all season, but in the last several meets are placing higher than when the season started.

First place finishes were rare at this meet for the Lady Raiders as Emma Epley earned one in the hurdles. Second places finishes were almost as rare as the team earned two. However, that 3rd place bronze medal finish was popular as it helped the girls rack up the points with eight such medals.
