Roy Fullerton

Elmer Leroy Fullerton, the son of William and Ruby (Hancock) Fullerton, was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Montrose, Kan. He died Jan. 16, 2021, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Neb., at the age of 89 years, 11 months, 19 days.

Roy grew up in a large family with his 17 siblings. He attended school at Montrose. On Nov. 6, 1948, he was inducted into the United States Armed Forces, serving during the Korean War. He was assigned to the CO "L" 26th Infantry 1st division. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 2, 1952.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Oliver on Dec. 30, 1955, at Fairbury, Neb. This union was blessed with three children. Throughout his lifetime, he was employed at Christensen's Implement, Alexander Motors, Sidles Automotive and retiring from Mid America Dairy. He enjoyed camping, traveling, boating, skiing, roller skating, hunting, fishing, carpentry and mechanic work. He was a member of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby; daughter, Cynthia Fullerton; seven brothers, Donald, LaVern, three infant brothers, Lyle and Dean .; and three sisters, Bernice Boecher, Neva Wharton and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; his son, Bruce (Linda) Fullerton of Superior; and daughter, Rita Higer of Republic, Mo .; five grandchildren: Tristyn Higer, Crisha Higer Mullins (David), Joshua (Emily) Fullerton, Jared Fullerton, Rebecca "Becky" Fullerton; 10 great-grandchildren: Vance, Bradlee, Madison, Kenley, Kellan, Sophia, Isabella, Kyalin, Bryler, Stella and Maverick; and his siblings, Phyllis Ohmstead of Emporia, Kan., Norma Eitzmann of Superior; Yvonne Blair of Superior; Joyce McElroy of Ulysses, Kan .; Claudine Fullerton of Superior; David Fullerton of Mankato, Kan .; and Brenda Moser of Hugoton, Kan .; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, April 23, at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Neb., with Josh Fullerton officiating.
