Eight members were present for the monthly meeting of the Mankato Chamber of Commerce which was held last Wednesday. President Jason Ortman called the meeting to order. Haley Nelson read the April minutes and they were approved as read. Heather Thompson gave the treasurer's report which was approved.
Haley Nelson gave an update on the 2021 membership drive. The chamber currently has 48 active members with $2,925 in dues income. Updates have been made to the website.
The Mankato Community Wide Clean-Up was held Saturday. The chamber and the City of Mankato worked together on the event. Volunteers met at 8 a.m., at the city park and then began the clean-up from there. At least 26 stops were scheduled for pickups. The city provided a truck, skid loader and two employees to help the chamber with the event.
The chamber continued discussion about the Mother's Day Luncheon. This year the event will take place on May 9, with pickup at Kiers Thriftway in the meat department. The chamber will only be taking pre orders for an 8- piece bucket of chicken. The cost for the bucket of chicken will be $15 and pre-orders will be taken from April 17 to May 1. Pick up times will be from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Jason Ortman 378-3212 and Haley Nelson 534-9109 are taking orders.
Community Garden Plots are now available.The plots are 10'x20'. So far there are already six plots reserved for this year.Contact Brain Shulda to reserve your plot.
The chamber had two applications turned in for the $300 scholarship. After being reviewed and voting it was decided that Karriagn Dunstan will be the recipient of the 2021 scholarship.
The next meeting will take place May 12, at the Bobs of Mankato.
