Vicki Ensign currently serves as the Nuckolls County treasurer. She is serving her fifth term as treasurer. The county treasurer’s office is responsible for issuing titles and registrations for vehicles, collecting all taxes, issuing drivers licenses, distributing all subdivision’s their tax collections, doing the county’s budget, investing the county’s money, along with a host of other duties as treasurer.
Ensign started working in the Nuckolls County treasure’s office as a clerk on May 1, 1982. She was appointed deputy treasurer on May 1, 1991, and Nuckolls County treasurer on March 12, 2002. She said the biggest change she has seen in the office throughout the years has been in technology. Having computers has made the work in the office somewhat easier! Ensign also said, “We try to do the best job we can to make sure things go smoothly for the customers.”
Ensign moved to Nuckolls County in 1969 and married John Ensign in 1976. She has two daughters and two grandsons. Her hobbies include traveling and going on cruises. She said, “The most fun I have is being with my family and going to their events!”
