The Jewell County Commissioners, Brent Beck, Steve Greene and Keith Roe met March 8. Carla Waugh, county clerk was present for the meeting.
Shannon Meier, ambulance director, reviewed the billing and activity report for February.
Nancy Marihugh, health administrator, provided an update on COVID-19 vaccines. She said that Jewell County had another positive COVID-19 case over the weekend. They provided 190 COVID-19 vaccines the prior week. She offered the registered nurse-home health position to an individual who accepted. The person is notifying their employer. She requested the commissioners’ signature on the aid to local grant application to be submitted to KDHE. The commissioners approved and signed the grant application.
Commissioners approved because of COVID-19, to allow the employees of the health department to exceed the maximum vacation leave accumulation of up to 45 days through Dec. 31, 2021.
Joel Elkins, general superintendent, and Brent Beck discussed removing a bridge. The commissioners shared road concerns. Elkins discussed with Alex Carabajal, county attorney, about preparing a contract with Anthony Wyatt to remove a bridge. Carabajal said she will prepare a contract.
The commissioners discussed procurement procedures with Carabajal, the county attorney.
