Lynnis Diane Eitzmann, the daughter of Egbert and Loretta (Heitmann) Schardt, was born on Oct. 8, 1952, in Deshler, Neb. She died March 8, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, at the age of 68 years and 5 months.
Lynnis was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was a 47-year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron. She attended grade school at District 64 and Byron and graduated from Byron High School with the Class of 1970. After graduating, she attended Kearney State College for a year. On June 9, 1973, she was united in marriage to Arlis Eitzmann at St. Peters Lutheran Church near Byron. To this union was born two sons, Brett and Adam.
Throughout her working career, Lynnis was employed at Security National Bank in Superior; Cooperative Business Association in Hardy, Midwest Bank in Deshler, and Byron State Bank.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and reading. For many years she made layettes and donated them to church organizations. She was also active in the WELCA group and sewing quilts at church. Most of all she loved taking care of her grandson Eli.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Egbert and Loretta; father-in-law, Adolph Eitzmann; and mother-in-law, Loriene Eitzmann.
Survivors include her husband, Arlis of Byron; sons, Brett of Hastings and Adam of Deshler; grandson, Eli of Deshler; her siblings, special brother Lyle (Lucille) Schardt of Byron; Ryan (Myra) Schardt of Byron; brothers-in-law, Norris (Margene) Eitzmann of Superior; Gayle (Carla) Eitzmann of Superior; sisters-in-law, Denice (Marlin Hupka) Hoops of Lincoln, Neb .; and Kristi (Jay) Peterson of Fairbury; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her funeral was held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 12, from the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron, with Pastors Connie Raess and Lori Kitzing officiating.
Congregational hymns were "I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry," "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," and "Blessed Assurance," with Carlita Price as the organist.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers were Jason Peterson, Brendan Schardt, Justin Schardt, Nick Eitzmann, Kelly Eitzmann and Darrell Heitmann. Honorary pallbearer was her grandson, Eli Eitzmann.
Interment was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Byron.
Memorials are suggested to go to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
