Genelda Maxine Snyder, 101, of Superior, died March 8, 2021, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of William LeRoy and Minnie Agnes Holmes. She was born July 29, 1919, in Callaway, Neb.
Maxine met the love of her life and later married Kenneth "Red" Snyder on Nov. 11, 1939. Together they raised four children, Jerene, Norma, Wayne and Joe.
Maxine treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She was known for her extraordinary talent of making you feel special. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She was known for baking kolaches, time in her garden and sharing with everyone. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She never passed judgment and lent an ear when a person needed someone to talk to. She ensured everyone who crossed her threshold, they were cared for and knew how much she loved them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Aggie Holmes; sisters, Lois Jean Boltz, Georgia Dewaine Bartram, and Jeraldine Lloyd; husband, Kenneth "Red" Snyder; an infant son; daughter, Jerene Trammell; and grandson, Val Hillman; great-granddaughter, Sara Larkins; and great-grandson, Gerry Trammell.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Norma Hillman; her sons, Joe and Wayne "Dink" Snyder; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Aug. 8, at the Belleville City Park.
