This time of the year it seems that I read a lot more about children. Especially, about unborn children and it’s usually because so many people commemorate the date of Jan. 22, 1973, with sorrow and prayer and hope.

That was the date the U. S. Supreme Court somehow decided unborn children could be killed via abortion and it was all legal.

Since that time, there have been all kind of actions to get the court to change that decision. They range from the huge protest march in Washington D. C. every January to the monthly protests in front of the Planned Parenthood Abortions Center across the U. S.

I have been to several of the protest in Lincoln. As such, what I recently read from another person who has attended such protests, certainly seems believable.

To quote George Weigel: “To begin with: it was striking that, while the 20 or so people in our group were relaxed and as cheerful as the circumstances permitted, the two banner holders were all angry, all the time.”

I have to admit I don’t have a lot of experience at taking part in protest against the current abortion laws in the U. S., but I did attend several and what Mr. Weigel says about the events seems true to me.

The protestors seemed pleasant, easy to visit with, and as happy as circumstances permitted. The pro-abortion people were . . . angry.

In spite of having what they want (abortion being legal) they were still not happy. One wonders just what it would take for them to be happy, or at least not angry all the time.

Mr. Weigel concludes his remarked about his experience with the following: “Reason rarely persuades angry people. No woman in America has to have an abortion: humane, life-affirming alternative are available. Pro-Life people must make those alternatives more visible in 2021.”

What is it about children that makes some people fear them so much that they feel they must kill the child before it is born?

I can understand some of the fears women have, but none of them seem good enough to qualify for a reason to kill the children.

My feelings are: Society in general has to do a better job in supporting larger families. It seems that in general, society is telling young men and women that children are just a problem you don’t need and we’ll help you eliminate that fear. All you have to do is kill your child, and life will be better. “You’ll have a better job . . . you can take that cruise you’ve always wanted . . . you will have better quality time with the children you do have . . . etc.”

All you have to do is kill your child.

Don’t believe them!

As I have noted in the past several weeks, I sometimes ‘borrow’ words for my writing and I recently came across the words of a Mr. Alex Cravens. I don’t know him at all, but I liked what I was reading and I pass it on here:

“Don’t feel sorry for or fear for your kids because the world they are going to grow up in is not what it used to be.

“God created them and called them for the exact moment in time that they’re in. Their life wasn’t a coincidence or an accident.

“Raise them up to know the power they walk in as children of God.

“Train them up in the authority of His Word.

“Teach them to walk in faith knowing that God is in control.

“Empower them to know they can change the world.

“Don’t teach them to be fearful and disheartened by the state of the world but hopeful that they can do something about it.

“Every person in all of history has been placed in the time that they were in because of God’s sovereign plan.

“He knew Daniel could handle the lion’s den.

“He knew David could handle Goliath.

“He knew Esther could handle Haman.

“He knew Peter could handle persecution.

“He knows that your child can handle whatever challenge they face in their life. He created them specifically for it!

“Don’t be scared for your children, but be honored that God chose YOU to parent the generation that is facing the biggest challenges of our lifetime.

“Rise up to the challenge.

“Raise Daniels, Davids, Esthers and Peters!

“God isn’t scratching His head wondering what He’s going to do with this mess of a world.

“He has an army He’s raising up to drive back the darkness and make Him known all over the earth.

“Don’t let your fear steal the greatness God placed in them. I know it’s hard to imagine them as anything besides our sweet little babies, and we just want to protect them from anything that could ever be hard on them, but they were born for such a time as this.

Happy Ground Hog’s Day . . . I was recently reminded to have eggs and sausage (you know, ground hog) on that day.

But don’t worry, I’m sure with all of the “Executive Orders” our new president is signing, one of them must certainly have something to do with Ground Hog’s Day. I’m sure the occasion has offended someone in the Democratic Party and they will change things . . . somehow.

‘O, by the way. We’ve been celebrating this Ground Hog Day thing since 1887 . . . and I’m getting tired.
