The Lawrence-Nelson boys basketball team has a two-game losing streak going. The Raiders downed Rock Hills 43-33, at Mankato, last Tuesday. The Kenesaw Blue Devils handed them a 50-27 loss before the home crowd at Nelson Friday. They lost a close one, 52-47, to Axtell, at Axtell, Saturday. The Deshler Dragons visited Nelson Tuesday with game results unavailable at press time.
The Raiders trailed Rock Hills 19-15 after two quarters of play. They mounted a comeback and led 27-23 at the three-quarter mark. The Raiders held on and took home a 43-33 win. The Kenesaw defense was stifling, holding the Raiders to single digit scoring in all four quarters. Lawrence-Nelson was unable to stop the Kenesaw offense. The Blue Devils led 27-14 at the half and opened the lead to 45- 19 after three periods. When time expired, the raiders faced a 50-27 loss. The Raiders stayed within sight of Axtell throughout the game but were never able to close the gap as they went down to their second consecutive defeat 52-45.
Logan Menke and Keith Miller were the lead scorers for Lawrence-Nelson against Rock Hills with 13 points each. Cole Troudt added 10 points. Tyson Kotinek scored four points. Krayton Kucera put up two points. Trevor Biltoft added a free throw for a point. Kucera, Menke and Troudt hauled down six rebounds apiece. Miller kept five rebounds. Biltoft landed four rebounds. Blake Wroughton and Kotinek managed three rebounds each.
Troudt put through eight points to lead the Raiders scoring against Kenesaw. Kucera was good for seven points. Menke kicked in six points. Peyton Mazour and Biltoft scored two points each. Kotinek and Miller each sank a free throw for one point.
Miller was the top scorer for Lawrence-Nelson against Axtell with 11. Menke posted eight points. Troudt recorded seven points. Biltoft and Kucera were good for five points apiece. Clay Williams added three points. Kotinek finished with two points. Menke landed eight rebounds for the Raiders. Biltoft and Miller secured six rebounds each. Troudt handled four rebounds. Wroughton wrangled three rebounds. Kucera and Mazour pulled down a rebound each.
The Raiders host Diller-Odell today (Thursday) at Nelson. Parkview Christian visits Nelson Friday for a game. The Blue Hill Bobcats arrive in Nelson Tuesday for a game.
