Jan. 25 through 29 are the dates set for Superior High School’s 2020-2021 homecoming. This year’s theme is “Superior is the Word (Grease)” with activities and competitions throughout the week.
Students entering theme day competition must dress according to the theme of the day and meet the school dress code. Hats may be worn if they are part of the outfit.
For competitions each class needs to provide the appropriate number of class members to compete in each competition.
There is not a banner competition this year. Instead a food drive for the Nuckolls County Food Pantry and the Backpack Program will take its place. This competition is worth the most points. A list of needed items will be posted around the school.
Monday, Jan. 25 begins the week with Beach Day as the theme. Students will be wearing lifeguard and Hawaiian outfits during school.
The Superior Middle School boys basketball team will play at 4 p.m., in Blue Hill. The reserve girls and boys basketball S-Club tournament will be at 5 p.m. at Superior.
Color Day or Crazy Hair or Wig Day will liven up the high school on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The class colors are: freshmen, yellow; sophomores, green; juniors, blue; and seniors, purple.
At 8:20 a.m., the pep rally will have a ring toss competition. During lunch, the game will be Old School Trivia.
The girls and boys basketball teams play Deshler here at 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 27, is Pajama Day. The morning class competition is a snowball throw. During lunch, students will compete in a curler throw.
The National Honor Society Induction will be held at 10:50 a.m.
College-University or Frat Boy-Sorority Girl Day is the theme for Thursday, Jan. 28. The morning competition is to find the most colored chips. At lunch, students will compete in the Hot Wheel race.
At 4 p.m., the middle school boys play basketball here against Sutton.
Friday, Jan. 29, is Red-White-Black Day. All three colors must be worn on outfits to be counted for class points.
At 1:50 p.m., the Parents’ Pep Rally will begin. During the rally the class competition winners will be announced and the spirit stick presentation will take place.
Superior girls and boys basketball games are against the Auburn High School Bulldogs. Coronation of the king and queen will follow the basketball games.
The high school dance, for Superior High School students only, will be from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the junior high gym. Doors will be locked at 11:15 p.m. Pizza and snacks will be provided. Admission is $5 and masks are required.
