Things were anything but festive for the Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team during their foray to the Hershey Holiday Tournament‑held at hershey High school.
The Raiders, a Class D-2 school were up against C-1 opponents and it showed in the game results. The Raiders hosted McCool Junction at Nelson, Tuesday, with game results unavailable at press time
The Raiders opened tournament play, Wednesday, against the host Hershey Panthers. They were mauled 62-20. Things got worse on Thursday. They went up against the Gothenberg Swedes. The result was a 64-9 thrashing to leave the Raiders with a 3-5 record as they head into the 2021 portion of their schedule.
Emily Miller scored eight points to lead the Raiders against Hershey. Emma Epley tossed through six points. Elsa Jorgensen added three points. Aleah Heikkinen put through two points. McKenzie Ostdiek score one point with a free throw,
E. Miller snagged six rebounds. Heikkinen nabbed four rebounds. Epley nailed down three rebounds. Katelyn Mazour and Jorgensen were good for two rebounds apiece. Sydney Biltoft, Avery Mazour and Alex Miller landed one rebound apiece.
E. Miller was the top scorer for Lawrence-Nelson against Gothenberg with five points. Heikkinen and Ostdiek accounted for two points each.
E. Miller hit the boards for five rebounds for the Raiders against the Swedes. Epley landed four rebounds. A. Mazour brought down three rebounds. Biltoft, Heikkinen, Jorgensen, A. Miller and Tori Miller picked off two rebounds each. Jessica Sole recorded a rebound.
The Raiders travel to Giltner today (Thursday) for a game with the Hornets. Lawrence-Nelson crosses the border to visit Mankato for a game with Rock Hills Tuesday.
