Michael L. Higbee, 60, was born July 18, 1960, in Concordia, Kan., the son of Jack L. and Nancy A. (Reed) Higbee. Michael graduated from Mankato High School with the Class of 1978. Following high school, Michael attended Cloud County Community College and then Kansas State University, before returning to the family farm.
Michael was a farmer his entire adult life, and enjoyed time outdoors and hunting. He also enjoyed time with his family and friends and playing cards in Belleville at the cafe.
Michael died Dec. 13, 2020, in Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother-in-law, Jeremy Nelson; niece, Kassidy Nelson; and his special companion, Lucky, his dog who has been awaiting Michael’s arrival in heaven.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy of Formoso; sisters, Christel Nelson of Courtland and Jeannea Thomas of Osborne; his nieces, Mccaela, Cheyenne, Mable and Jackie Nelson, and a community of friends.
A graveside memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, at Balch Cemetery, rural Formoso.
Memorials are requested to the Formoso Community Church, or the Bryan Health Foundation to assist COVID families, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home of Belleville assisted the Higbee family with these services.
