Bagleys plan to close their Burger Barn

This issue of The Superior Express contains an advertisement announcing the planned closing of a long-time Superior business. Richard and Janene Bagley plan to close Bagley’s Burger Barn on Sunday, Dec. 13. Holders of gift certificates are asked to use them by Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The business opened in the 1950s as a franchised ice cream only store on what had been a used car lot. In the early years, it was closed in the winter months. But as other food items were added to the offering, it became a year around business. The building was remodelled and expanded to provide inside seating and ordering. During the pandemic, the outside walk-up windows were reopened and the drive up window became increasingly popular.

In recent months the Bagleys have had the business for sale. According to the advertisement in this newspaper, the building will remain for sale through December.

The Bagleys are past the normal retirement age and have been cutting back on their hours of operation.
