The Superior High School one-act play team has been honing their skills at several competitions. They competed at the Southern Nebraska Conference meet at Fillmore Central in Geneva as well as at York.
The team is readying for their appearance at the District C1-4 competition to be held at Fillmore Central High School at Geneva, Wednesday. Other schools competing will be Fillmore Central, Wilber-Clatonia, Freeman, Centura, Johnson County Central, Tri-County and Sutton. The state championship meet will be held at the Johnny Carson Theatre, Norfolk, on Thursday, Dec.10.
The team is performing "And Then There Were None," a play based on the Agatha Christie murder mystery of the same title. A group of diverse individuals are invited to a mansion on a secluded island. There they slowly disappear. Who done it? You have to watch the play to solve the mystery.
Senior class members of the cast are Kaylee Flaata who plays a maid. Jackson Kuhlmann who plays the part of Clayhorn, a butler. Janison Majors is cast as Delores Biggs, an actress.
Junior class members are Isaac Hathaway who is rock singer Presley York and Kya Hodges portrays Heather Starlet, a trendy young actress.
Sophomore Dereck Kirchhoff takes on the role of Matthew Charisma.
Freshman class member Grady Henderson plays the part of Albert prince, a doctor. Ashleigh Primus plays Inspector Horatio Miles. Jackson Bernal has the part of Marl LaRue, a dead body.
Supporting the acting crew are Micah Janicek and Jocelyn Woerner, the sound specialists. Grace Thompson takes on the duties of makeup artist and costume director. Preston Majors handles the visual effects as well as serving as a sound specialist.
Flaata, Janicek, Kuhlmann and Majors earned outstanding actor awards at the York meet while the team finished in sixth place.
Corissa Arickx and Tierney Casper are the coaches.
