Thursday, Rosie Eilert Bosse brought her books to her hometown for a reception and book signing event held at the Jewell Library. A1974 graduate of Jewell High School, Bosse grew up west of Jewell on the family farm. Now living near Onaga, she has been a storyteller for some time, especially for her grandchildren. But since 2016 when How Clicker the Dog Got His Name was published, she has been a published author.
Bosse has authored seven children's books. The books have characters drawn from the rural agricultural life Bosse knows well. Characters such as the Clicker the dog, Gertrude the hen, and Curly the cow come to life in her books.
Her seven children's books are How Clicker the Dog Got His Name, Gnarly Tooth the Mean Mountain Lion, Clicker Finds a Mate, Gertrude the LOUD Hen, Curly the Hero Cow, Curly and the Terrible Tornado and her newest, a Christmas book titled, What Does Old Santa Do?
Plus, she has authored a series of adult western novels. The first two, North to Cheyenne and West by Rail, are out and available. The third novel, South to Laramie, is off the presses and being shipped at this writing. The fourth novel in the series is written and beginning the editing and publishing process. The fifth and sixth in the series are still in the author's pen.
Several in Jewell have read the first two novels in the series and are waiting for their copy of South to Laramie. Bosse said the fourth book of the series will be set in the Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. She read a preview of that fourth novel at the reception.
Bosse also was the Children's Story Hour special guest. She read her newest book and her first book to a group of children and adults. The stories, refreshments and conversation were enjoyed by all.
