Ronald Guy Figgins, 79, the son of Freida (Spooner) and Erza R. “Jude” Figgins, was born Oct. 31, 1940, at Burr Oak. He died Oct. 29, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud.
He began his formal education attending the Red Cloud school and moved to Yuma, Ariz., with his family where he graduated from high school.
After graduation, Ron was employed for a period of time with a machinist company in the Yuma area. In 1962, he was united in marriage with Charlotte Bank in Yuma. This union was blessed with four children.
They later moved to Nebraska where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator working with Shuck Engineering at Edgar. In 1980, he started his own business, Figgins and Lewis Construction Company, doing road repair work in area communities. Ron was a skilled mechanic and craftsman and also worked as an auto mechanic out of his own shop and was employed for five years at Minden, with Ward Craft Industries.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Freida and Jude Figgins; and a sister, Dixie Wilkerson.
Survivors are his wife, Charlotte Figgins of Red Cloud; his children, Debbie Staggs of Hastings; Rick Figgins of Hastings; Ruth Williams, of Orrick, Mo., and Mary Adams of Holstein; 24 grandchildren;12 great- grandchildren; brothers, Gerry Figgins of Red Cloud; Bill Figgins of Santa Maria, Calif.; and a sister, Bonnie Becker of Kansas.
