Boone Svoboda receives American FFA Degree

Boone Svoboda graduated in 2019 from Lawrence-Nelson High School and is currently attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln double majoring in animal science and grazing livestock systems. He will also have a double minor in beef scholars and ag economics. Boone is the son of Arnie and Teri Pond-Svoboda.

The SAE project Boone currently is in operation with, falls under the "Small Animal Production" category. Arnie and Teri believe it was necessary for Boone to grow up learning about business, animal care and responsibility all while making money for his college fund and therefore B.P.S. Kennels was formed at his young age of 5 years old. Boone said, "I learned a lot about running a business and record keeping, that will greatly help me in my future."

Boone has raised and cared for yellow lab puppies. Many of them have been and currently are sold privately. Many are shipped to California where they will be trained for search and rescue dogs. Boone told us, "It's a great feeling to know so many people have enjoyed my dogs and so many of my dogs have saved people."

B.P.S. Kennels is a state inspected business where, Boone annually meets with state inspectors in addition to keeping his records up for veterinarian inspections. Arnie said, "Boone will most likely continue his operation until who knows when. Maybe he will even pass this tradition on to his own kids someday."

If there were any words of advice that comes from this family project, Teri suggested, "Give your kids some responsibilities and goals in life and help them achieve those goals by getting involved."

Boone said, "Thank you to Morgan Trausch, my FFA advisor, and to all those who have helped me achieve my 'American FFA Degree' goal. It means a great deal to me."
