Esbon's first Halloween pumpkin decorating and carving party was held Friday, at the Esbon Community Center. Jewell County children, parents and adults enjoyed this after participating in the Trunk and Treat down main street at Mankato that afternoon. Children played in the Esbon park next to the community center after decorating their pumpkin!
A pumpkin party was a tradition that the Kate and Patrick Gurka family was accustomed to while living in Texas. It was something their family enjoyed and wanted to see if others would enjoy it as much as they do. They talked to Esbon community members to see if it was something they would be interested in to help or participate in.
All ages were welcome to attend the party. This wouldn't have been a success without the donations from Guaranty State Bank, Barb Mizner, Esbon mayor, and the use of the Esbon community center. The Gurka families plus the community also helped with donations, painting supplies, carving kits and treats.
Esbon community hopes this to be annual event!
