In conditions that were anything but ideal, hundreds of the state’s best cross country athletes meet in Kearney last week for the annual state competition. The Nebraska South Central Unified District was represented by two boys in the Class C competition.
A total of 118 boys were included in Class C and for the Red Raiders Brayton Jarosik finished 28th with a time of 17:38. Logan Menke finished 77th with a time of 18:36. The 2020 Meet was Brayton’s third appearance at the state meet while it was the first for Logan.
Both boys improved their times from the UNK meet earlier in the season. Both boys ran career best times for this course. They both said that the chilly and windy conditions did not bother them.
Coach, Randi Fox noted: “I am happy with how the season went. I think we were all surprised that we got through the whole season without missing a meet. These kids took care of themselves and put in the work during practice to improve themselves. They were definitely a fun group to coach.
Three seniors (Brayton, Alex Miller, and Jessie Himmelberg) graduate this year.”
