To say the high school fall sports season was anything but normal would be an understatement. The last game of the regular season did however come last week as the girls traveled to Franklin to “restart” the season once again. The girls have had their season interrupted a couple of times this season by the COVID pandemic and this followed the cancellation of the L-N Raider’s participation in the Twin Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament.
Franklin featured a strong team this season and the week of not playing by the Lady Raiders seemed to be noticeable, especially early in the match.
Franklin won the game, 3-0, jumping out to a big lead in the first set, and coasting to a 25-8 win. They won the other two sets: 25-14 and 25-9.
The Raiders were without the services of veterans Emily Miller, Emma Epley, McKenzie Ostdiek and Tori Miller and their absence was noticed in the line play as Franklin had 33 kills and 14 solo blocks.
In spite of the lop-sided scores the Raiders limited any Franklin long scoring runs except for twice throughout the night.
Statistics for the night were: (kills, aces, digs) Sydney Biltoft 1, 0, 0; Aleah Heikkinen 1, 0, 8; Elsa Jorgensen 0, 1, 11; Katelyn Mazour 3, 0, 8; Emily Troudt 1, 0, 7; Avery Mazour 3, 0, 3; Jessica Sole 0, 0, 2; Kylie Beard 2, 0, 1; C. Himmelberg 0, 0, 1.
Blocking (solo, assist) Sydney Biltoft 1, 0.
Ball handling: Katelyn 55 of 55 with 5 assists.
Serve receptions: Aleah 18 of 20; Emily Troudt 18 of 20.
