The Mankato Chamber of Commerce met last Wednesday with 10 members present.
The Highway 36 Treasure Hunt took place Sept. 17 through 19. Brian Shulda reported there were four booths rented this year at the Garage Sale Mall and the garage sales went over well.
Downtown Trick-or-Treat and pumpkin carving contest will take place Friday (tomorrow). Because of COVID-19 the event will be different this year. All downtown businesses are encouraged to participate as well as any others who wish to Trunk-or-Treat. The businesses are to take precautions such as; only handing out pre-packaged candy, business owners are to hand out the candy instead of letting the child pick a piece, and stand outside the business. Participation signs have been distributed to regularly participating businesses, so those who did not get one and would like one please contact Haley Nelson.
There will also be a pumpkin decorating contest this year. Participants may leave decorated pumpkins on the bench in front of the museum on the 30th from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants are asked to pick their pumpkins up at 5 p.m. when winners are announced. Tickets to the Ute and Chamber Bucks will be used as prizes.
The chamber will take over the community birthday calendar as no one has done it for a few years. Haley Nelson talked to several companies about the cost of printing the calendar and the Superior Publishing Company proposal was the best option for this project. The calendar project will start in summer 2021 for the 2022 calendar year.
