The Rock Hills High School volleyball team picked up their 11th win of the season when they downed Chase in four sets, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-15, last Tuesday at Mankato. The Grizzlies competed at the Northern Plains league Tournament at Lincoln, Saturday. It was a tough outing as Rock Hills dropped all three of their matches. They lost their opening match in two sets, 12-25 and 16-25, to Thunder Ridge. Lakeside took down the Grizzlies, 12-25 and 19-25, in two sets. Southern Cloud needed three sets, 13-25, 26-24 and 25-6, to put away Rock Hills. The Grizzlies closed out their regular season schedule with a regional match with Osborne and St. John's, at Osborne, Tuesday. Match results were unavailable at press time.
Karrigan Dunstan, Danica Frost, Daleton Groote and Lauren Whelchel recorded two kills each against Thunder Ridge, Jauclyn Lemke added one kill. Austyn Groote scored the lone Grizzlies ace. Lemke and Whelchel led the diggers with 12 digs apiece. A. Groote gouged out five digs. Dunstan bumped up four digs. Avery Brown cleared up three digs. D. Groote and D. Frost posted two digs apiece.
Dunstan netted two kills against Lakeside. D. Groote and Lemke accounted for a kill each. Dunstan, Frost and A. Groote each slashed through an ace for a score. Whelchel swept up the floor with 10 digs. A. Groote, D. Groote and Lemke registered five digs apiece. Dunstan finished the match with three digs. Brown and Frost claimed a dig each.
The Grizzlies travel to Sylvan Grove, Saturday, to compete in the sub-state 1A-D1 match. Other schools at the match are Lakeside, Lincoln, Solomon, Sylvan-Lucas, Central Plains-Wilson and Clifton-Clyde. The outcome of the Grizzlies matches will determine if they advance to the quarter finals.
