Virtual Gala deemed success in the year of a pandemic

Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted the Virtual Harvest Moon Gala on Oct. 3. Fundraising efforts for the 2020 Gala were for the future Brodstone Healing Garden. The evening kicked off with a recorded program, giving the feel of attending the live event, drawings and an online silent auction. Donors enjoyed the evening with family and friends, from the comfort of their own homes. The committee had to get creative this year in order to continue their fundraising goals for Brodstone Memorial Hospital. Although a bit challenging, that mission was accomplished.

The evening went smoothly from both a donor and committee standpoint. Final fundraising amounts are yet to be determined as donations continue to come in. The virtual event was well attended and supported.

“2020 is a year that will be remembered for generations. Planning for an event with so much unknown was a risk, but something we felt needed to go on. The care our hospital provides does not stop during a pandemic, so we believe supporting the hospital shouldn’t either. I am thankful for the donors and communities that made the event a success and I think it goes to show the comradery and support that rural communities have for their own. I couldn’t be more thankful for that,” –said Heather Erickson, foundation director.

The Harvest Moon Gala Committee would like to thank everyone who made the event possible. To those who tuned into the event, bid during the silent auction, donated items and gave monetarily to the cause. The event was out of the norm for everyone, but one thing is certain – donors, both near and far, continue to show unwavering support. The Foundation is proud to assist Brodstone Memorial Hospital in providing Superior Care Close to Home as they continue to “Honor the Past and Build for the Future.” It is our hope that next year the event will be in-person and we can all celebrate together the success, the care, and the future of our rural Hospital here in Nuckolls County.
