RHHS football opens season with win

The Rock Hills High School football team opened their 2020 season with a two-quarter 52-6 win over the Wichita Homeschool Warriors at Mankato.

The Warriors offered no resistance to the Grizzlies offense while the Rock Hills defense kept the Warriors at bay.

Jerrod Gillett completed one of his three passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Davion McDonald pulled in the pass for the Grizzlies.

Mason Higer was the workhorse back with 10 carries for 50 yards. Gillett ran the ball eight times for 93 yards and a touchdown. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown. McDonald took the ball six times to cover 76 yards. He converted three of those runs into touchdowns. Jacob Barry carried the ball three times for six yards. Grant Meyers recorded four carries for 20 yards.

Higer and Connor Cosand completed two solo tackles and added two assisted tackles each. Gillett grabbed a solo tackles and assisted with three others. Mcdonald made two solo tackles. Mason McMains contributed an assisted tackles. Buck Luedke posted two solo tackles and an assist. Grant Meyers nailed down two solo tackles, assisted with four others and retuned an interception for a touchdown. Ethan Kenworthy accounted for two assisted tackles. Kole Vance struck for two solo tackles while adding an assist. Caden Slate and Kenny Sterling landed two solo tackles apiece. Jacob Barry and Jacob Usita registered a solo tackles each.

The Grizzlies will be looking for win number two of the season when they travel to Downs, Friday, to play Lakeside.
