TFC hopes to buy Common Grounds Coffeehouse

North Central Kansas Teens for Christ has received a matching fund donation of up to $5,000 to help purchase the Common Grounds Coffeehouse in downtown Concordia. The funds were donated in honor and memory of Mrs. Glenda Cyr who died in the spring of 2020.

Larry and Glenda Cyr started attending Teens for Christ events in 1972 when they were leading the youth program at their church. All five of their children grew up attending Teens for Christ events. Larry Cyr spoke of his fond memories and looks forward to the ministry expanding into the coffeehouse.

Teens for Christ is looking to raise $53,000 to cover the purchase price, startup costs and a new roof on the building. Common Grounds Coffeehouse looks to re-open as a ministry of Teens for Christ, a place where teenagers, college students, their families and community members are welcome. A place where negativity has no footing, but positivity is the norm. A brick and mortar building where the ministry model can change as the seasons change. A place to host Bible studies, worship nights and game nights. A place where to teach farm to table cooking classes, guitar classes, offer tutoring, sewing classes and more.

North Central Kansas Teens for Christ has until Friday to match the $5,000. Donations may be made by mailing a check to North Central Kansas Teens for Christ, P.O. Box 9, Concordia, Kan. Online via paypal using [email protected], or donations may be left at the office located at 517 Broadway in Concordia.
