It was the intent of the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Foundation Gala Committee to host the third annual Harvest Moon Gala as they had in the two years prior, but a Global Pandemic caused their plans to change. For the safety of the attendees, they announced last month they were taking the event virtual. The Harvest Moon Gala committee has been at work since to make this virtual event come to life in order to continue their efforts of supporting Brodstone Memorial Hospital.
Last year they changed ticketing and bidding to an all-electronic process. They will be utilizing the sameplatform for 2020, with some added features.
In the past two years, support for the Harvest Moon Gala came from individuals and businesses near and far. Because of this support, Brodstone was able to start administering chemotherapy in the Spring of 2020! Six nurses along with pharmacy staff completed extensive training and education in order to make this dream a reality. Plans for the future infusion suites have been finalized and will be constructed in the near future as ground is broken for a facility expansion.
The proceeds from this year’s event will go to the development of the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Healing Garden.
The garden is planned to be a tranquil place of renewal and healing for patients and visitors alike. Patients undergoing infusion treatments will have a view of the garden from their infusion suites, families visiting their loved ones at the hospital will be able to get fresh air in the garden, new parents can take a stroll with their added bundle of joy during their stay, patients recovering from injury or surgery will benefit from the open-air environment and community members will have a place of peace and calming to gather. Though the development will be a part of the “new” construction, the garden will be paved in history — ”Honoring the past, building for the future.”
The 2020 Virtual-Harvest Moon Gala will be on Saturday Oct. 3. The group will launch the gala campaign two weeks prior to the event with the introduction of a new video showcasing their 2020 cause. Donors will be able to access the video via Facebook (Brodstone Memorial Hospital), YouTube (Brodstone Memorial Hospital), the hospital website(www. brodstonehospital.org/about/foundation) or the event webpage (www. bidpal.net/hmg2020). Campaign updates will be communicated via Facebook, event webpage, future news articles and email to those who are in the system from last year. During the two weeks leading up to the virtual gala event, committee members will be selling raffle tickets. Throughout the campaign they will be highlighting silent auction items, donors and other additions to the year.
When gala night rolls around, tune in as they have a short program before they open silent auction bidding. The program will be broadcasted (info to follow) with their MC guiding participants through speakers, raffle winners, announcements and other event details. The committee knows it’s not their “normal” gala event but are looking forward to the impact they can make as we finish out 2020, virtual style.
