Carl Melvin Arent, 80, the son of Leslie and Cleo (Claflin) Arent, was born in Stockville, Neb., on Nov,4, 1939, and died Aug. 3, 2020.
Carl grew up in various small farming communities in Nebraska. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he received his GED. After serving his country for four years, Carl was honorably discharged on Sept. 10, 1963. He returned to Geneva where he met his future wife, Carol Reinsch. They were married on June 27, 1964, and had four children: Raymond, Craig, Troy and Dawn. Carl started working for Champion Homes in York and continued working for them until he retired.
Carl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, V.F.W and Eagles Club. He enjoyed billiards, fishing, woodworking and hunting but above all he enjoyed drinking coffee. Carl said many times, “he always felt lucky that his children and grandchildren unequivocally loved him beyond words.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira Arent; sisters, Ardel Hinkel, Neva Pendergast and Bonnie McMillan and daughter-in-law, Patricia Arent.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of Aurora; three sons, Raymond, Craig and Troy; daughter, Dawn Erdman; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Gladys Dallas, Helen Druba, Superior, and Vivian Nabity.
