Family members from Nebraska and Iowa were in Deweese this week to help with the 42nd annual Keith Hansen Memorial Demolition Derby which was held Sunday.
Two of Hansen’s grandchildren entered the competition, Kiel Ploen of Schalier, Iowa, and his cousin, Nathan Ploen of Kingsley, Iowa.
Kiel won the longest tow award for having come the farthest. Another grandson, Evan Hanson, helped organize the event as a member of the Deweese Community Club. His father, Dan, and cousin, Lucas Ploen, served as derby officials.
