Rae Hobson Memorial Library program begins

Rae Hobson Memorial Library at Republic is sponsoring a summer library program for all ages called Imagine Your Story. It began July 7 and ends Aug. 13.

People can color a giant Imagine Your Story poster placed in the library. It is used for imagine play with story stones for all ages to talk about “our” story. A take home coloring page for ages Pre-K to sixth grade is part of the “Where Would You Read” challenge. Those who color in what they completed can enter to receive prizes. The form needs to be returned by Aug. 13.

Pre-K through adults can sign up for the Reader Zone. Participants track their reading minutes using the Reader Zone App. Those tracking their minutes are eligible for a prize. A paper log is also available for participants who can not use the app. Prizes will be awarded to three age group categories: Pre-K to 5th grade receive a prize for every half hour of reading; sixth to eighth grade receive a prize for every hour of reading; and young adult and adult can enter into a prize drawing for every hour of reading.

Outdoor activities are offered from 3 to 5 p.m. for Pre-K to young adults on Thursdays during the summer program. Each Thursday has a new activity which includes a story, snack and craft. Aug. 13 is the End of Summer party. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and participate in lawn games.

Starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, adults can join the fun with a book discussion group of Beneath a Scarlet Sky either in-person at the library or by Zoom.
