The Rae Hobson Library summer program activities

The Rae Hobson Library summer program will be held July 7 to Aug 13 with various activities and places. For passive activities, there is a big coloring page on the main table for children and adults as they come through the library for the entire period.

Take Home - Where would you read challenge’ to color. Prizes will be awarded at the end for the Pre-K-8th grader who has completed and turned in by Aug.14.

Reader Zone - Reading tracking app, codes are available for age groups on the library Facebook page before July 6. Pre-K through 5th grade get a prize for every 1/2 hour reading and tracked. The other categories receive a prize for every hour of reading. Those categories are 6th through 8th grade, young adult and adult. It is preferred for everyone to use the Reader Zone app but will have paper tracking pages available to hand into the librarian.

Outside activities from 3 to 5 p.m., at library on Thursdays are for Pre-K to Young Adult.

July 16 is Story Walk (Punk Farm on Tour) with snacks and a craft.

July 23 is Story with Sidewalk chalk to-go kits for children (Teens will be available to help children decorate messages of hope around town).

July 30 is story with painting rocks to keep and distribute around town (Teens will be available to help decorate and put rocks around town with #RepublicKSRocks so others can follow on Facebook).

August 6 is shadow story scavenger hunt with snacks and craft or take home craft.

August 13 - 4 to 6 p.m. is the End of Summer Party with lawn games, snacks and prize drawings.

Adult Book Discussion is of the book, Beneath a Scarlet Sky, by Mark Sullivan. Weekly zooms will be available, starting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 14 or if there is a small group , they can meet in the library.
