Chester Volunteer Fire Dept. conducted controlled burn

The Chester Volunteer Fire Department conducted a practice burn Saturday morning as they took down a condemned building which had previously suffered from a fire. The house was located directly east of the auditorium and had been empty for almost two years. As the fire was close to an existing, occupied home, Fire Chief Bill Riggs noted the plan was to have the fire cause the walls to fall into towards the middle, which is exactly what happened thanks to the expertise of Chester's great crew.
