Chester CarFest a Success

Saturday was the date for Chester's annual Chesterfest, but because of the concerns about the ongoing pandemic, the event was cancelled. In its place, the Chester Community Club organized activities which could be held within the state's COVID-19 regulations.

CarFest started with a road rally, which hosted about 30 teams who covered one of two planned routes. The scheduled three hour rally lasted into the night with the last car returning at 9:45 p.m. Winners were: Route A, first, Darren Sudbeck and second, Calvin Katz; Route B, first, Josh Wit and second, Thad Mumm.

Proceeds from the rally will go to Chester ball field improvements.

In the evening, a wide range of vehicles cruised the streets of Chester while the Chester Community Club held a 'drive-thru' burger feed. Nutrien Ag Solutions donated food for the 150 meals which were served. The evening was capped off with an incredible display of fireworks in the park. The display was sponsored by Chester's own Kleveland Fireworks and the Western National Bank.

Chesterfest is scheduled to return in June 2021. The next event in Chester is scheduled for July 18 when the "Youth of Chester" present "Cars" as a drive-in movie at the park!
