The Nuckolls County 4-H Council has modified the 2020 Nuckolls County Fair 4-H schedule to meet COVID-19 safety requirements.These decisions were made in cooperation with the NDA’s Guidance of Livestock Shows (https://nda.nebraska.gov/COVID-19/livestockshows.pdf), the NDA’s Guidance of Fairs, and the Nuckolls County Ag Society. The South Heartland Public Health district will give the final approval of this modified schedule, so consider this schedule a tentative draft.
Exhibitors, families, guardians and limited volunteers and show staff (superintendents, show ring help, Ag Society members, FFA advisors and Extension staff) will be present at all shows and contests. At this time, the Nuckolls County Fair 2020 is not open to the public.
Entry deadline and Livestock ID sheet deadline wasMonday, June 15.
Static Drop-Off times will be staggered and assigned per family on Friday, July 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. Families will enter through one door of the north building on fairgrounds and exit through another.
Static exhibits will be judged on Saturday, July 11, following best practices for COVID-19 safety. Food exhibits will be judged from photos. Detailed food photo instructions available soon.
`Clothing and photography interviews will be cancelled for 2020.
Static pick-up will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Monday, July 13, and all day on Tuesday, July 14.
Public speaking contests were held virtually in April.
Public style review and public performing arts contests are cancelled.
Ice cream roll and culinary challenge are cancelled.
Company’s Coming modified contest will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, in person with exhibitors providing their own table setting.
Clothing construction (no interviews) and fashion show judging willbe done in person at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, The performing arts contest will take place at 1:30.
Dog and companion animal show will be at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, with dog show following the companion animal show.
The horse show will be Saturday, July 11. Check-in from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., with show to follow. Horses will not stay overnight at the Fair.
Bucket calf record book interviews will be held in person at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 12. Sign up for interview times will be during market beef weigh in and check in between 8 to 10 a.m., on Sunday, July 12.
Families will bring market livestock at assigned times and livestock will be weighed in and ultrasounded according to species from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m., Sunday, July 12, and then will go home and return to the fairgrounds on their respective show days.
7 to 9 a.m. – market hog
8 to 10 a.m. - market beef
9 to 12 p.m. – market sheep and goats
Breeding livestock, rabbits and poultry final show entries must be submitted by 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 12.
Livestock will be shown using show and go format. Animals come to the fairgrounds no more than three hours prior to the start of their species show, and must be off the fairgrounds two hours after the conclusion of their respective species show unless showing both morning and evening species.

Tuesday, July 14, at 5 p.m. – sheep show with goat show to follow
Wednesday, July 15, at 8 a.m. – large animal round robin with small animal round robin to follow
Wednesday, July 15, at 6 p.m. – clean up and payout
Wednesday. July 15, at 7:30 p.m. – 2020 fair review meeting
