Olen Goodwin

Olen Rae Goodwin, 71, died in Arizona on Feb. 23, 2020. 

Rae was born on Dec.1, 1948, in Little Rock, Ark., to Olen and Mary Goodwin. 

When Rae was nine years old, the family moved to Kansas. He attended school in Burr Oak and Jewell. He graduated from Jewell High in 1967. He attended vocational school in Salina and learned auto body. He enjoyed his work with cars, but started taking flying lessons. That led to a lifetime career of flying. 

He married Brenda McMillan on March 14, 1970. They lived in several states across the U.S. as he worked his way up in aviation. Most of his career was in flying cargo. His last job was for DHL in the Middle East. He flew 727s out of Bahrain to deliver mail cargo to U.S. military in the war zones. He enjoyed his job and made lots of international friends.

Rae’s hobbies were restoring classic cars, hunting and fishing. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed going camping in the Colorado mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Florence, Ariz.; his daughters, Kelly Tuley of Englewood, Colo., and Kara Parkos of Florence, Ariz.; grandsons, Brandon Tuley of Boise, Idaho, Brian Tuley of Englewood, Colo., and Liam, Owen and Kase Parkos of Florence, Ariz.; and sister, Patricia Hart of Maricopa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., June 10 at Alsdorf Cemetery, Formoso, Kan. Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society.
