Hansen intern now working in Jewell Co.

Jewell County Community Development Association has welcomed Katelyn Harbert as 2020 Dane G. Hansen Foundation Intern. She will be working in Jewell County throughout the summer.

Harbert is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural communications and journalism with a secondary major in global food systems leadership. She looks forward to bringing her knowledge and skills to the county. She is the daughter of Joseph and Darla Harbert of Kingman and the granddaughter of Robert and the late Colleen Mainquist of Courtland.

“Having family roots in the area, I am passionate about Jewell County and eager to serve the communities,” Harbert said. “I look forward to applying my agricultural communications education.”

Harbert will be working on a variety of projects aimed at growth in Jewell County.

Jenny Russell, Jewell County community development coordinator and summer intern supervisor, said, “The Dane G. Hansen Foundation internship program allows us to bring great talent to work on projects in Jewell County. This is the third year we have been blessed with these positions. Katie will be a great asset in marketing Jewell County, Jewell County Community Foundation, and the Rural and Remote program! Be looking for Katie out in the communities and make plans to attend her presentation of work at the end of this summer.”

The Jewell County Community Foundation is paying for Katie’s housing at Jewell.
