This is your reminder to fill out your 2020 Census either by mail or on-line. So far, Jewell County has a return rate of 43.1 percent as of the middle of April. The Mankato zip code is leading the way with a 56.9 percent return. The Formoso zip code is next with a 38.7 percent return, followed by Randall at 37.1 percent, and Jewell at 30.2 percent. Federal and state funding for Jewell County is largely based upon how many citizens return their Census, so doing so is vital to Jewell County.
The deadline to return your Census is sometime in August, but please don’t wait until then. April 1 is called Census Day because wherever you live on that day is the location you are to report on your census form, unless you are a college student. However, Census Day should also serve as a reminder that it’s of utmost importance that you fill out the official census form (there are two scams). Any questions, contact Wendi Stark, Kansas Census Outreach Manager, at [email protected]. No question is too small. If you receive a census form in your P.O. Box it is not the official one. Toss it.
