Tuesday morning patrons of the Superior School district were notified the Superior Public Schools had extended the time the facilities will be closed through April 30. This decision was said to have been made with guidance from the Nebraska Department of Education, the state health department, and other schools within Educational Service Unit 9.
The Superior schools will continue "Enrichment Activities" for all students through April 1. The teaching staff is preparing a "Continuity of Learning Plan" to be implemented starting on April 2. This means work will be taken for a grade for many of the students and count toward credits. The continuity of learning plan will continue until the facility is reopened.
Supt. Marty Kobza advised it is likely the schools will be operating this way for the remainder of the school term.
More information on the Continuity of Learning Plan will be forthcoming later this week or early next week.
The Lawerence-Nelson schools will also remain closed until at least May 1.
