It was a rough post-season ride for the Lawrence-Nelson boys basketball team. They were ousted from sub-district D2-8 play when they lost their opening round game to Silver Lake, 49-42, at Sandy Creek, last Tuesday. Despite the loss, the Raiders advanced to the District D-2-3 final game at Minden, Saturday, by virtue of their wild card point standing. The Loomis Wolves made short work of Lawrence-Nelson, handing them a 59-27 loss, and ending their state tournament hopes. It was the final game in a Raiders uniform for seniors Trevin Kotinek, Cody Buescher and Coy Ceder.
Kotinek led the Raiders scoring against Silver Lake with 12 points. He landed four rebounds. Logan Menke scored 10 points as well as a rebound. Blake Janda was good for eight points and six rebounds. Keith Miller added five points and two rebounds. Krayton Kucera scored three points. Buescher and Ceder accounted for two points and three rebounds each. Trevor Biltoft nabbed four rebounds.
Menke and Cole Troudt hit for five points apiece against Loomis while Menke landed two rebounds and Troudt pulled down one rebound.. Biltoft and Janda contributed four points each. Biltoft collected three rebounds with Janda nabbing two for the Raiders. Kotinek and Keith Miller posted three points apiece. Kotinek climbed the boards for 11 rebounds while Miller landed three. Ceder closed out his Raider career with two points and two rebounds. Kucera sank a free throw for one point and had a rebound. Buescher recorded two rebounds.
