The local unit of Superior United Methodist Women met on a cold Wednesday evening, Feb. 19, at the church. Seven members were present. Linda Cox acted as president and secretary in the absence of those two officers.
Sue Rose reported on the Valentine Gifts of Love given to homebound members. This was a joint project with the church youth. Members signed a birthday card to be sent to a missionary in India who works with special needs children.
The spring district meeting will be held Saturday, April 18 at Hastings. Reservations are needed by April 13. A list of items requested by Epworth Village is available. In Kind Donations will be taken to the district meeting.
Esther Martin reported she had contributed lap robes to the hospital and also some items to Kingswood Court as gifts from UMW.
This year we have some young women interested in the METour to Redbird Mission starting May 30. Contact the pastor for further information.
Following the business meeting, Esther Martin gave a devotional on “The Greatest Gift of All” – Love, and Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Then Esther and Sue Rose shared a program explaining ways to be more appealing as Christians by following the example of cupcakes. Don’t we all want to be as desirable and accessible as a beautifully decorated cupcake? Esther provided some for all to share.
The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., March 18.
