The Superior High School boys basketball team notched their fourth victory of the season when they handed Lawrence-Nelson a 50-35 loss, at Nelson, friday.
The two teams played an evenly matched first two quarters with Superior holding a one pointy, 20-19, lead at the half. The Wildcats steadily pulled away over the third and fourth quarters with a consistent offense and steady defense. The final result was win number four of the season for Superior.
Hunter Healey led the Wildcats with 22 points. He added three rebounds. Jackson Gilbert netted 10 points and four rebounds. Zeke Meyer scored seven points while grabbing two rebounds. Dane Miller hit for five points and nabbed nine rebounds. Jordan Brown and Seth Schnakenberg tallied three points apiece. Schnakenberg handled five rebounds with Brown landing one. Conner Blackstone nailed down six rebounds. Jedd Whitmore had two rebounds.
Logan Menke led the Raiders offense with 16 points. He added two rebounds. Coy Ceder poured through 12 points while accosting seven rebounds. Trevor Biltoft and Trevin Kotinek scored two points each. Biltoft secured seven rebounds. Kotinek handled five rebounds. Blake Janda came up with three rebounds. Krayton Kucera and Keith Miller acquired two rebounds apiece.
Both teams close out their regular season schedules Friday. Superior visits 19-2 Sutton while Lawrence-Nelson travels to Deshler. Sub-district play gets underway Monday and Tuesday. Superior will play the C-2-9 sub-district at Adams Central High School in Hastings. Other schools will be Doniphan-Trumbull Sandy Creek, Hastings St. Cecilia and Sutton. Superior will likely play a Monday game to advance into Tuesday’s round.
Lawrence-Nelson will play on Tuesday at Sandy Creek in the D2-8 sub-district. Other schools competing will be Deshler, Red Cloud and Silver Lake.
