Teenage BMH employee returns as financial officer

Brodstone Memorial Hospital welcomed Steve Lewis as its new chief financial officer (CFO), last Wednesday. Steve brings with him more than 41 years of clinical, administrative and financial experience. Steve received his bachelor's degree in medical technology from Peru State College and later his master's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Prior to Brodstone, Lewis had worked in various healthcare facilities across Nebraska and Iowa. "We are excited for Steve to come aboard and continue the great work that's being done here at Brodstone." -Treg Vyzourek, Brodstone Memorial Hospital, chief executive officer.

No stranger to the Superior area, Lewis and his wife, Shirley, are both graduates of Superior High School. Steve welcomed the opportunity to move back to Superior and work in a place which brings back many memories for him. His father, Harold, was the chief executive officer of the hospital from 1963 to 1975. As a 16-year-old, Steve worked for Brodstone mowing, cleaning bathrooms and washing windows.

"I am really proud to be a part of Brodstone. People don't know the true reputation this hospital has made for itself in Nebraska. Continuing to achieve a top 100 critical access hospital recognition and recently being announced as a 5-star hospital is a big deal," Lewis added.

In his spare time, Lewis likes to travel and is an avid sports fan. His top teams being the Huskers, St. Louis Cardinals and now Superior Wildcats, again. Steve and Shirley have two sons, Nate and wife, Julie, of Kearney, and Bryan and wife, Elizabeth, of Sacramento, Calif. They also have three granddaughters who they enjoy spending time with.

Lewis replaces a long tenured chief financial officer, Sandy Borden, who has worked at Brodstone for 44 years this coming June. Borden plans to retire later this year.
