Superior speech team places well at Sandy Creek

The Superior High School speech team competed at Sandy Creek Saturday. Of 12 teams and many tough competitors, Superior’s team left with 10 medalists. One team member became ill mid-meet. Had that not happened, Superior would have come home with the runner up plaque for team sweeps. Even with the last minute switch, Luka Benjamin was able to take one of the sick team member’s roles and Jackson Kuhlmann - having never watched the OID team perform, was able to fill in for the other role. They still came home with the gold. These students perform well under pressure!

Placing at the contest were Jackson Kuhlmann, Luka Benjamin, Tia Hunter, Jayden Simmons, Lacey Langer - first place in Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID); Lacey Langer - third place in poetry; Luka Benjamin - fourth place in extemporaneous speaking; Glenn Rosenquist - fifth place in entertainment speaking; Tia Hunter - fifth place in extemporaneous speaking; and Jayden Simmons - sixth place in poetry.
