Magnificent 100 year old homes were on display in Jewell Sunday. And yes, some of them were well over 100 years old. They were built in the days before power tools and several were three stories high. Woodwork, doors and stairways were crafted from beautiful wood, complete with intricate detail work. The wood gleamed like new. Great care had been given over the years.
Visionary carpenters created the exteriors in more amazing details. Many windows filled the houses with light. One house had curved glass windows. Most had welcoming porches.
These structures were contracted for construction by bankers, publishers and other forward-thinking couples. At least one had been vandalized while vacant and the restoration was superb. These homes are treasures and appreciated by the present owners. Thanks for sharing.
