The Superior High School wrestling team competed at the Adams Central Invitational at Hastings, Friday. The team finished in 13th place, with 19 points, in the 13-team field. Other schools taking part were Aurora, Lexington, Millard West, Nebraska City, Waverly, Holdrege, Lincoln North Star, Fremont, Centennial, Schyuler, Crete and South Central Unified District 5.
Hayden Neeman earned a fourth place finish in the 105-pound weight bracket. He is ineligible to earn points, as he is a transfer student.
Brenden Jensen was awarded four team points in the 138-pound weight class.
Payton Christiancy earned 15 team points for his fourth place finish in the 285 pound division.
The team travels to Southern Valley High School, Oxford, Friday and Saturday, for the District D-3 event where Superior wrestlers will attempt to qualify for the state meet. The Wildcat wrestlers will face wrestlers from Ansley-Litchfield, Axtell, Elm Creek, Franklin, Harvard, Hastings St. Cecilia, High Plains Community, Kenesaw, Maxwell, Nebraska Christian, Pleasanton, Red-Cloud-Blue Hill, Shelton, South Loup, Southern, Southern Valley, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, Weeping Water, West Holt and Wilcox-Hildreth.
Several team members wrestled in the junior varsity event.
