Superior School athletes will travel in coach bus

Superior High School athletic teams and others will be traveling in style to future events. The school transportation department took delivery of the 202 Blue Bird All American bus on Friday. The bus features a striking full external body wrap with Superior Wildcats featured prominently on the sides as well as the school colors of red and black.

The bus, paid for with funds from the school budget and the Red Caps booster organization, at a cost of more than $160,000. It is a marked upgrade to the regular school bus teams have utilized.

The diesel powered bus features a below deck pass through luggage compartment, as well as two smaller storage areas on each side. It is equipped with air brakes. There is a back up camera for the driver to view obstructed areas at the rear of the bus.

The bus has seats for 46 students and one for the driver. The front entrance door is electric powered. There is a block heater installed. The bus has a 100 gallon fuel tank mounted between the frame rails for safety.

The mirrors are remote control. There are anti-vandal locks on the doors. The bus features air conditioning and heating units. The gray vinyl fire block seats are to meet state specifications. Each passenger seat is fitted with a three-point seat belt. There are interior overhead luggage racks on each side.

The bus will be placed into service once the title and insurance are obtained as well as license plates.
