Mankato VFD receives grant from Jewell County foundation

The Mankato Volunteer Fire Department received a grant for $3,000 to purchase 25 intrinsically safe firefighting flashlights for each fireman. This grant was made possible by the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Funds Program of the Jewell County Community Foundation.

Since 2018, the Jewell County Community Foundation has built stronger communities and helped donors make a difference through charitable giving in Jewell County. Each year, the foundation distributes thousands of dollars back to our region through community grants.

According to Brian Shulda, MVFD fire chief, the Jewell County Community Foundation has been an integral part of improving emergency services for the county. "Because of the small budgets associated with rural fire departments, grant funds are an extremely important vehicle to improve our fire fighting resources, as well as Improving the safety of our volunteer firemen. The Jewell County Community Foundation is an amazing resource for Jewell County."
