SHS girls down Deshler at home

It was an easy skate on the pond for the Superior High School girls basketball team as they glided by the Deshler Dragons 67-24 at the high school gymnasium last Tuesday. The Wildcats played David City, at Superior, Tuesday, in their opening round game of the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament.

Deshler was down 39-10 at the half and never revived. The win improved the Wildcats record to 13-3 for the season.

Shayla Meyer poured through 23 points for Superior while grabbing six rebounds. Kalynn Meyer put up 21 points and nine rebounds. Trisha Hayes, Emma Henderson, Hallie Miller and Emma Schnakenberg scored four points apiece. Henderson and Schnakenberg each secured five rebounds. Noelle McMeen added three points and two rebounds. Laci Kirchhoff and Atlee Kobza tallied two points each. A. Kobza collected four rebounds. Zaveah Kobza came up with three rebounds. Sierra Blackburn and Ella Gardner recorded a rebound each.

The Wildcats progress through the tournament is dependent on the out come of Tuesday's game. Should they advance, they will play in the semi-finals Thursday at Centennial. The championship game will be played Saturday.

The team plays host to Smith Center Monday at the high school gymnasium.
