Just about every loyal and dedicated Kansas City Chief’s fan is anxiously waiting for Super Bowl Sunday to arrive. I’m proud to admit that I too am one of those Chief fans. During the fall and well into the winter months, Chief fans have been cheering them on through every NFL game they have played. The amazing quarterback, Mahomes, twisted and threw the football to the receivers leaving all the sports announcers and fans amazed. Fans worried and shot up prayers when Mahomes was injured having to sit out a few of the mid season games. Thankfully, a great substitute was talked into coming back to fill in for Mahomes and did the job. Receivers such as Kelce, Hill, Watkins and others caught Mahomes’ throws and scored.
The Chief Kingdom, Arrowhead stadium, has been packed with fans at every home game. The stands are filled with red and white. Record breaking yells by fans have even made the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not list. Fans brave the blistering cold to cheer the Chiefs on at the stadium.
Coach Andy Reid seems to always remain calm and collected throughout the game no matter what happens. A recent social media post said two must be Reid’s lucky number as when the Chiefs win, it will be his second Super Bowl Win (once as an assistant coach); his 222nd career win; and it will come on 2/2/2020!
As much as I’d like to, I won’t be attending the Super Bowl in Miami with the ticket price being from $4,000 up to $6,000, not counting the air fare and stay. I’ll be watching it on a wide screen television with other Chief fans. There was a news report that an online source said there have been more tickets sold to Chief fans than 49er fans so I’m sure the Chiefs will have plenty of fan there to give the “Tomahawk” yell.
It was 50 years ago, Jan. 15, 1967, that the first Super Bowl game was played in Los Angeles between the Chiefs and Green Bay. I can remember watching the game with Terry and Carol Garman on their television, in their apartment living room. They had a son who was a year old. We had our son who was also a year old. Both were stationed on a blanket on the living room floor. We cheered the Chiefs on as they fought it out with the Packers. That time the Chiefs didn’t come out on top. It will be a different outcome this Super Bowl!
Go Chiefs!
